“Take heed, dear Friends, to the promptings of love and truth in your hearts. Trust them as the leadings of God.”..
Since the birth of Quakerism the Peace Testimony has been a vital expression of Friends' response to their understanding of the nature of God.
This collection of writings seeks to deepen our understanding the Peace Testimony in today's world. The Peace Papers cover a wide range of concerns and issues, through the experiences of different authors.
They reflect the vision of the Northern Friends Peace Board that working for peace is an organic process. Individuals who may be following very different paths are united in the search for transforming alternatives to conflict
The Peace Papers are being published in a ring binder and on the internet, with additions and updates over the next two years. Each area of concern is presented in three parts:
• Factual
information about the issue.
• Personal testimony
from people involved in the work.
• Ideas for action -
what you can do and where to find out more.
The Peace Papers aim to assist Friends and others in discerning how they can give expression to their Peace Testimony, by providing a stimulating resource for spiritual reflection and signposts for action. They will highlight ways in which we can each make a contribution to promoting a culture of peace, from active peace-making and working on the roots of violence, to challenging militarism.
The Peace Papers are published by the Northern Friends Peace Board with support from Quaker Peace & Service and a number of Quaker charitable trusts.
