DIY Placard
Instructions
(from
Hampstead Quakers' 'Speaking Peace to Power' group)
-
Use broom handles as anything finer is
too flimsy (also broom handles are relatively comfortable to carry.)

-
Take two posters (perhaps
like this one?) - one for each side and position at top of broom handle.
-
Drill two holes in broom handle - one
a centimetre from the top and the other a centimetre up from the bottom
of where the poster will sit.
-
Attach two pieces of wood (each the width
of the poster) to the top and bottom of broom handle using screws. The
pieces of wood will be approx 2cms wide and half a centimetre thick.and
can be bought in long lengths and cut to suit.
-
Staple poster at front and rear to the
two pieces of wood and the broom handle.
-
Sellotape the sides of the posters together.
-
NB Ensure the broom handles do not stick
out at the top of the poster as the police do not like people having things
they could prod people with so make sure the poster covers the top.
